2015 SUMMER CHESS CAMP

July 27-31

9am to Noon

Fathers, Mothers, Sons, Daughters. The JIM MOYER CHESS CAMP is here again in its 10th year.   Discovery Museum. 9am to 12noon.

Employ the metaphors on 64 squares. Cover the turf of the invisible and visible. CHESS, an evolution that required Big Blue to take awhile to learn, begun like a viral idea, viral in its ability to morph a solid protection against any attack. Too ethereal? No way. This will ground you.

If new to the game, the first magic trick you will learn is the 2 move checkmate, then the 4 move checkmate and then the coup de grace you will never forget, the dance of your King and Rook pushing the enemy King to its demise.

Then on to a standard French Defense that can surprise you.

If an old pro, you will see an interesting variation of the Sicilian Defense.
