George Washington's Birthday

22 February 2022, Tuesday

3 PLACES:

First place?

2pm at Fort Loudoun which is 149 N Loudoun St

Then we march.

2nd place:

Anytime between 3pm to 4pm

We march to 1840 Courthouse

on the walking mall, the Loudoun Street Mall.

We announce George Washington's Birthday.

By the way, little story. In Sept 1752, Winchester lost 11 days. That's why you see old style birthday for GW is Feb 11.

New Style Birthday is Feb 22. Ask us about that.

Then we march again.

3rd place:

Winchester Brew Works 5pm to 8pm

320 N Cameron Street.

Catch a special brew there. Read both posters.

10am

Muster of the Virginia Regiment, Captain George Mercer company.  They will assemble at the site of Col. Washington’s Fort Loudoun, 419 N Loudoun Street.

1 pm

Flag Raising,

then Volleys then the March down the walking mall of Loudoun Street.

 

2pm at the Union Jack

Fort Loudoun Day commemorates the start of construction of this fort.

18 Shawnee flew in like a motorcycle gang, burning, killing, and taking hostages all the way back to Ohio. 

 

10 Shawnee wreaked havoc in the Shawneeland area of Great North Mountain.

The other 9 went down to Middletown and Cedar Creek area.

Those hostages were recovered a year later.

Meet the Clowser family.  This is quite a story they celebrate.

Camp open to the public Sat. 10 am to 6 pm. & Sund. 10 am to 5 pm. Indoor restrooms on site. Plenty of parking. I am the contact & safety enforcement person
