Missiles for the British Empire in 1755

But something started in Maine (then part of The Province of Massachusetts Bay ) that might have been even way more important.

This might be the most important house of the whole British Empire.

Built in 1755. The man who built this house scoured the primeval forest for ship masts.

These masts were so important they needed armed escorts crossing from Maine to England. In fact the enemy prized capturing any ship hauling masts.

These Masts were the Missiles of the British Empire.

The selection of the right tree, the felling of the tree so it would not split, the difficult hauling over land of the tree, the loading of this mast to a ship designed to carry these heavy duty tall masts was like installing a missile in a silo.

"Captain George Tate (1700-1794) and his family arrived in the Colonies around 1750. Tate served as the Senior Mast Agent for the British Royal Navy, overseeing the cutting and shipping of white pines from Maine to England."
