Fort George and Robert Mallin

Here's what I know so far about Fort George, see below. I like to always cite the sources, which kind of makes for poor reading, but I always like to know where a writer found their story.

.

Fort George is not mentioned in any of the letters by George Washington.

Fort George pops up in an article by Robert Mallin, Vol XII year 2000 in the Winchester Frederick County Historical Society Journal, pages 125-132. Robert Mallin states, the name of this "fort" comes up in some deeds. The dates of those deeds are not mentioned in Mallin's article.

Depending on the dates of those deeds, if they are located, it might be of a later date where someone in a much later generation came up with that name, but no proof for that theory.

I never met Robert Mallin.  Some who read this might remember him. Robert Mallin did a tour guide downtown wearing his top hat doing so.  The map and part of his article are shown down below.  I heard he came to an untimely demise. A lot of people remember his tours.  Click or touch to expand the pictures below.

See Fort George designation of No. 17 on the map below.
