The Point

Winchester's early growith as one of the largest "Backcountry" towns in the colonies is diue to the French Fort Duquesne located at what is called "The Point" or the Three Rivers area, dubbed by General Forbes as "Pittsburgh" on 1 Dec 1758.

Frank Lloyd Wright is interesting, but it looks like he wanted to put a giant hat on the 3 Rivers.

.

How the Point ended up is better.

.

Grant's Defeat was on a hill that no longer exists under those towering buildings.

.

Feels like HG Wells' Time Machine.

.

You can see the smaller footprint of Fort Duquesne clearly in the bottom right photograph.

.

Above to the right is clearly one bastion of the gargantuan Fort Pitt
