Historical Signs at 1840 Courthouse

The Winchester Star on Monday 25 January 2021 in its series "Out of the Past," posted a little story that the Winchester Historical Society is planning to put out more bronze historical plaques after 24 January 1926.

.

.

The article states the society has already 2 plaques have been placed at the 1840 Courthouse on the Loudoun Street walking mall: James Wood and Lord Fairfax.

A third one was placed at the Washington Office Museum on Cork and Braddock Streets in Winchester VA. We could not find it. We don't know if it was ever placed and then removed.

.

So here are those 2 plaques of Lord Fairfax and James Wood at the 1840 Courthouse.

Those 2 plaques were placed here before 24 January 1926.

Further updates to this blog story will narrow down the exact date those 2 plaques were installed.

The 3rd one of George Washington was placed decades later and spearheaded by Mike Forman, a former Clerk of Court for Winchester VA.
